The earthquake struck at 1.19am on Thursday near the epicenter of a magnitude 7.6 quake that hit three days earlier in the western state of Michoacán. He was charged with two deaths.

The US Geological Survey said Thursday's earthquake was centered 31 kilometers (50 km) south-southwest of Aguililla, Michoacán, at a depth of 15 kilometers (24.1 km).  

The government of Michoacán said the earthquake occurred across the state. He reported that a house in Uruapan town was damaged and the ground collapsed on the highway. 

Mexico's president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, said via Twitter that Thursday's temblor was a consequence of Monday's earthquake and had an impact in the states of Colima, Jalisco and Guerrero. 

Claudia Sheinbaum, the mayor of Mexico City, said via Twitter that two people died - a woman who fell down the stairs of her apartment and a man who suffered a heart attack. 

Residents rushed to the streets as the seismic sound reverberated. The earthquake shook the panic-stricken nation. Monday's strongest earthquake is the third earthquake that occurred on September 19 - in 1985, 2017 and now 2022
